Who Else Wants Smoking Ban Alternatives?
16 May
Since the ban on smoking in many places all over the world, there has been an interest in talking about smoking ban alternatives. The whole idea behind a smoking ban is that while smokers can enjoy their cigarettes, others around them have to inhale the toxic chemicals associated with second-hand smoke.
Employees and other workers in the restaurants of the past had to risk their health and lives in order to work for a living. People, like waiters, waitresses, and servers died of cancer that never smoked, but had to work around smokers on a long-term basis. The smell of tobacco smoke also had no bias as to who it floated to in public places, such as bars and restaurants. As a result, many areas around the globe have instituted a ban and some law makers are even considering alternatives to outright banning.
In our society, we value the freedom to have a choice. This is a challenge when you’re dealing with something like tobacco smoke. While on one hand, we want everyone to have the freedom to smoke or not, we also want everyone to have the freedom to risk their health or not.
One of those smoking ban alternatives is to give pubs and bars the choice to ban smoking or not. Bars and pubs are the very places associated with drinking and smoking. While on one hand, employees and service workers in the pubs and bars are exposed to cancer causing agents, the very nature of the business is one that has a large number of smokers as their customers.
A second proposition and solution could be to have businesses prove a 3 month decrease in revenue. Business income reports could be used to prove that a ban on smoking has seriously affected this business owner’s profits. If they show more than a certain amount of decrease, then this pub or bar should be able to have smoking allowed, granted they advise their employees of the risk.
Another smoking ban alternative could be to use proper ventilation systems that should be put in place, so that the pub or bar can have separate sections for smokers and for non-smokers. Perhaps there could be a patio area made that is outside for the smokers to enjoy.
Consider e-cigarettes or smoke-less cigarettes. These are small vaporizers that are made in the shape of a cigarette. The tobacco is contained in a small cap within the e-cigarette and the person simply turns it on and takes a puff. There is no smoke and the nicotine craving is satisfied.
We should all have the choice to do something, whether it is good or bad for us. At the same time, we now have to deal with giving choices that do not infringe on other people’s choices. Forcing people to do something, just because it is for their own good is unethical to say the least. Taking a good look at various smoking ban alternatives can bring a happy medium to all.

Breaking your smoking habit is difficult to do. However, it does not necessarily mean that since it is difficult you cannot do it anymore. I am telling you, it’s just all in the mind. And would you believe that hypnotherapy will help you quit smoking? In fact, hypnotherapists stop smoking! Again, it’s all in the mind.
